She was one of the first bloggers I admired and followed from my VERY early blogging days.
Meet…The Nester.
Yes, she is The Nester, a.k.a. Myquillyn Smith, the author of “The Nesting Place” and more recently “Cozy Minimalist.”
She is authentic, adorable and oh so talented. She reminds women…
“it doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful.”
That could be my life mantra!
I mentioned The Nester recently here in this post about “Making your home your haven”.
And…I blogged about it almost exactly seven years ago with this “Imperfectly Beautiful” post from February, 2008.

I absolutely believe in embracing imperfection and making the most of what you have, as you’ll see from the post. The Nester even commented! “I am so hungry right now and whatever that was on the second to last photo looks delish! Perfectly imperfect.” So cool!
I wish the photos were still available from this post on my Pleasant Places blog from February 2009. The Nester commented again! “Great job! It looks so good and I love those robins egg blue dishes you have.”
I was star-struck then and she’s still inspiring me now!
I love The Nester’s style, and her down-to-earth approach. Being a Cozy Minimalist is totally my cup of tea. I crave simplicity but I love beauty and pretty things. I don’t want to be a “stuff manager” (her term) yet I want to be surrounded by meaningful objects. I love opening up our home to guests and I want it to be inspiring and comfortable, not overwhelming. And as the years go by I’m embracing a more minimalist approach and it’s working.
Is being a Cozy Minimalist right for you??

The Nester’s seasonal classes are terrific! They will change how you “decorate” for the seasons and will save you so much time and money! Check them out here. I highly recommend getting the season pass for all four.
