Elevate Your Image

5 simple steps for a stylish lifestyle

Most women desire a more stylish lifestyle, whether because they enjoy getting dressed, they admire the stylish women around them or they want to look their best as they face each day. It can seem daunting or intimidating so here are

5 simple steps for a stylish lifestyle

1. Explore and embrace your style.

Mine is comfortable, simple and feminine with a subtle organic, pretty or sparkly touch. A little Southern, a little southwest, always modest, usually colorful. I wear a lot of scarves and jewelry and keep the shoes simple. I love ocean colors AND earth tones, flowy white pieces and pencil skirts. You can check it out on my My style Pinterest board.

Do you know how to define YOUR style?ย

For most women, it’s a work in progress and that’s OK!

Day to day, we just want to feel good in our clothes and look put-together.

But if there are looks you admire and want to try, a stylish lifestyle means going for it!

When you shop on purpose, you can find the key pieces to create the looks you admire, whether it’s the cut of the jeans, the animal-print scarf or the color of the top.

Having a Pinterest account is crucial for this. I have a “My Style Explored” board to pin outfits, pieces and looks that inspire me.

Do you need help with Pinterest? I have tutorials and worksheets for FREE on my Resources page here.

2. Keep your wardrobe decluttered and organized.

If you’ve been around here for long, you know I mention this tip often. It definitely applies to having a stylish lifestyle! That’s what makes it a lifestyle–it’s a part of how you live your life.

You can’t do that if you don’t know what you have and you can’t put outfits together. Plus getting dressed should be fun, not a chore. It should be like shopping in your own mini boutique.

I spell out the process in my Love Your Wardrobe! ebook here as well as on my Resources page.

3. Play with accessories.

It’s hard to look stylish without accessories. Plus they help you express your personality AND elevate the simple pieces in your wardrobe.

Accessories are a must for a stylish lifestyle.

Remember, scarves, funky shoes, hair embellishments and belts count, too!

Start a collection and enjoy taking your outfits to a new level.

Red shoes, a leopard-print scarf and a fabulous chain belt are great to start with.

4. Embrace color.

Sure, all black outfits can be stylish but a stylish lifestyle means wearing colors that express your personality and help you feel amazing.

Does red make you feel like a vixen? Does yellow make you smile? Is green your confidence color?

Only wear colors you love. But do wear colors.

And of course you need a Signature Color if you don’t already have one.

5. Incorporate signature pieces.

I’m all about statement necklaces, glasses in a fabulous color or a bold polish on your fingers.

A stylish lifestyle means not being afraid to stand out.

Wear a cat bracelet if you’re a pet blogger. Wear an adorable sun hat to the church picnic. Wear a vintage apron when you host dinner. Wear a show-stopping necklace to the office. Wear red lipstick on a hot date.

Having go-to pieces that boost your confidence is key.
