2019: TOGETHER
As I planned and prioritized for 2019, TOGETHER kept emerging. Being together more as a family, working TOGETHER with other business people, gathering women TOGETHER more often, being knit TOGETHER by God, working TOGETHER on my dad’s and husband’s businesses…it represents so much of what I want more of in 2019 and what makes me happy. After every event I host or facilitate, I say, “I love getting people together!” I use the hash tag #bettertogether all the time! I really do believe what the world needs now is community and I want to be more intentional about getting together with people strategically. Are you next??2019 update
It was an incredible year of togetherness! Dinner parties, tea parties, workshops, outings, projects, family time…togetherness was definitely a big focus and I loved it!
2020
My “one word” has come to me in various ways over the years. One year I even changed it after about a month! This year it started with a visit to our favorite arboretum when butterflies were swarming everywhere. The next day I attended a soulful and inspiring event and was given an affirmation card all about lightening up and embracing the wonder and joy of childhood. For the last month or so I’ve been cutting activities to create more space in my day so I can focus more on the day to day joy of life as a wife and mom. So my one word for 2020 is…
LIGHT
/līt/ 1. the natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible.
2. an expression in someone’s eyes indicating a particular emotion or mood.
3. understanding of a problem or mystery; enlightenment.
4. a window or opening in a wall to let light in.
The hot air balloon in my logo and branding is all about lightness.
Lighten up. Let your light shine. Our cracks allow the light in.
I love how it can be a light shining or a lightness of heart. Butterflies light upon flowers.
Butterflies have become my emblem for 2020. I’ve always loved them but now they’re also a reminder to move through life with a certain lightness.
As a former anxiety sufferer and someone who can tend to allow circumstances in life to weight me down, embracing LIGHT will be a challenge and a gift.
Some things I have in mind:
:: simplifying my business to allow me more time doing what I love
:: pursuing things that bring me joy, namely learning to sew and spending more time in the kitchen
:: taking life less seriously and just having fun
:: being the “fun mom” to my kiddos i.e. being more lighthearted
:: spending more time outdoors so I can notice and appreciate things like flowers and butterflies…and the way the light shines through the trees
:: mentoring women to shine my light the way others have done for me
I’m hoping my one word for 2020 will allow me to pass that lightness on to others as well as I focus more on home and family for this season.
2022
My word is CULTIVATE. It means to encourage, foster, promote growth, tend, refine, give attention. It’s all about action, intention and getting your hands dirty. I feel like I haven’t “done much” for a few years…and I am ready to get some things growing! I like these:
cultivate peace
cultivate connection
cultivate joy
(you’ll see them pictured in the graphic below)
I plan to cultivate our yard…cultivate areas of my life I have neglected…and help the people in my inner circle cultivate what matters to them as well.
The verse I’m claiming for 2022: “And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who cultivate peace.” James 3:18 Peace is the number one goal of my life so it’s especially fitting.

2023
My word was CONNECT and boy, did I!
You can get the recap HERE.
My 2024 word
2024 verse (the same verse my mom has prayed over me all my life): Proverbs 31:25 “She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.”
My 2025 word: FREE.

I’d be honored if you shared this post or pinned it!
