Elevate Your Image

Makeup recommendations for your Dominant Color Category

Elevate your image.

Women who wear makeup are seen as more professional, put-together and as having an attention to detail. The women I talk to report that they feel more confident when they wear makeup. And if you’re going to make the effort to put makeup on, you want it to be the right colors for your complexion, right? I know women stand in the makeup aisle of their favorite store feeling completely overwhelmed so here are my

makeup recommendations for your Dominant Color Category.

I have, by the way, worn makeup for 25 years and I am also a Mary Kay Advanced Color Consultant.

To start with, if you don’t know your Dominant Color Category…

  1. Click here to Discover Your Signature Color and you’ll ALSO find out what your Dominant Color Category is along with links to the corresponding Pinterest boards.
  2. Read my blog post called Introducing…your Color Code

I also recommend my Warm vs. Cool: Look Good In Any Color video HERE.

The suggestions I am offering you below come straight from Shari Braendel’s book Help Me, Jesus! I Have Nothing To Wear!

I will include the colors so that you can shop at the drug store or your favorite makeup counter as well as links to the specific Mary Kay products I’ve used on hundreds of women over the years. The website will help you locate your local Beauty Consultant or you can contact me for my trusted referral partners.

These are products EVERY category should use:

Foundation Primer with SPF 15 to give a flawless finish and help makeup last longer.

Matte-wear Liquid Foundation for combination/oily skin (it’s so balancing that you won’t even need powder).

Luminous Liquid Foundation for normal/dry skin.

Ivory 2 works for my more fair friends and Beige 3 works for me, my mom AND my grandmother. The liquid foundation is translucent so it adapts to each individual skin tone.

For definition:

Black Lash Love

Black Lash Love Lengthening

For volume:

Black Ultimate Mascara (for ALL categories)

Black/brown Ultimate Mascara (for ALL categories except Clear and Cool, which should both stick to black)

While it comes in six colors, I use Beach Blonde Cream Eye Color on everyone and I wear it every day. It can stand on its own or is an excellent primer for other colors. My eye makeup NEVER moves during the day, even in the Phoenix summer.

These are neutral everyday eye shadow colors that look fabulous on everyone. These will be your go-to colors on most days, according to your eye color.

{Below I will make specific recommendations for each Dominant Color Category if you want to take your eye makeup to the next level, or experiment for a more glamorous look}
