***The August 2019 update appears at the end of this post***
{written in 2015}
I am a writer.
I attended a business conference in 2011 as The Color Picker for my parents’ home painting business and I sat in a workshop where the facilitator asked us to fill in the blank:
“I was born to _________.”
I wrote the first and last thing that came to mind: WRITE.
My dad often says that I’ve been writing since I learned to hold a pencil and he’s absolutely right.
I love to write. A day doesn’t go by that I don’t write SOMEthing. Writing is how I think, relax, pray, love and express myself.
It’s true, I dabble in a lot of things and I have a lot of pans on the fire at all times but at the end of the day, writing is what I love to do and what I want to do more of.
Seriously, at the end of the day, my favorite thing to do is write. Most of my best stuff comes out after 10:00 pm. I’m hitting publish on this at 10:50 pm on a Tuesday.
I’ve been paid to write for over six years now. Ghost writing and editing are the bread and butter of my business and I love writing for other people. I am a writer.
But now I want to write more for me.
Not for SEO, not as a marketing tool, not for anyone else…for me.
I don’t want to stick to an editorial calendar (as if I ever really have). I don’t want to think about key words and headlines. I’m done worrying about catchy titles and Pinnable graphics–at least for now.
I just want to write about the things that matter to me and that I think might encourage or inspire someone else.
I also want to get to work on that book I’ve been meaning to publish.
So.
1. Be warned that it’s about to get real all up in here, yo.
And..
2. I want to know…what were YOU born to do?
****2019 UPDATE****
Yes, I’m revisiting this! I heard Candace Payne (Chewbacca Mom) speak about the boxes we put ourselves in and how God wants us to break out of those boxes and do what we were born to do…and mine is writing.
So I’ve streamlined my business services and given myself more room to write. It’s what works for this season of life and is me living my purpose and using my God-given gifts. I have so many ideas and the thought of being a writer is such a relief. Stay tuned for more!
In the meantime…I’m here to help you take steps toward that calling! click here to Step Into Your Purpose.
The perfect place to get some accountability and support is within my Image and Influence Insiders Facebook group.
The world needs the gifts that only you can offer. Now is the time to do what you were born to do.
I’ll see ya inside.
Loving your declaration. I love it when words burst through and demand to be heard. Wishing you joy in your journey. I look forward to reading your words.
Thanks so much for coming by and for your kind words!
This sounds just like me too!
I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember and it was so wierd but it was only a year ago that I realized what I am… I am a writer! Now I have something to call myself when someone asks and I get all flustered. Haha at least it’s a good start… meanwhile my mind is wandering over to a ton of other projects and jobs… lol
Thanks Tabitha!
