Blogging
:: What are you selling? Tell your readers they can “FALL for it” again.
:: Use anything pumpkin-related. For my plumber cohort, this meant talking about how to carve a pumpkin and reminding readers NOT to put pumpkin guts down their garbage disposal.
:: People are opening up their homes to trick-or-treaters and family and friends this time of year. How can you address that? For my home painter cohort (who also happens to be my dad), we’re talking about colors to paint your front door, entryway and dining room since these are areas that will be getting a lot of action in the months to come. Think hospitality, home owners insurance and event ideas, too.
:: The weather is changing. How does that affect your customers? How can you educate them about it?
Direct Sales
:: Host your own fall open house or sale, or have a “mystery hostess” event. It’s not too early to get your customers thinking about holiday gifts, too! Keep it simple, just serve cider and pumpkin bread, for example. Make sure to have plenty of samples and catalogs.

:: Promote fall products, whether fall makeup, jewelry or oils. People are in the mood to try something new and to buy gifts.
:: Consider an appreciation dinner or party for your best hostesses and customers. You can give them a sneak peek at the new catalog or holiday products, too.

There are tons of ideas and themes you can use, some are on my Pinterest Event Ideas board:

Pinterest tips
:: Create fall-ish images for your posts, specials or events and pin them. Remember that you can Tweet pins and post them to Facebook!
:: Superimpose a quote or link over a picture of a pumpkin. Better yet–carve or paint the pumpkin with your logo!
Check your feed to see what’s trending then pin more about that. Better yet–write a blog about it, then pin it!
Image
:: Tweak your closet and think about what you need to wear this season. Do you need a new pair of jeans? Boots? Clothes to travel with? A holiday dress? Layering pieces? A heavier coat? Try putting together work and play outfits for an entire week–from the shoes to the accessories–see what’s missing and start a shopping list.
:: Have fun wearing fall colors. Paint your finger nails to look like candy corn or wear a spider pin on your jacket–trust me, even the most buttoned-up professional will get a kick out of it.
Influence
:: Think gratitude. “We’re thankful for our customers!” greeting cards in November sets you apart from the influx of holiday cards in December. Host a fall event for your best clients or customers.
::Deliver fall goodies to your customers and clients.
:: Attend or sponsor a community or charity event happening in your community.
:: Teach a “falling for ____” workshop.
:: What’s new? Write up a press release and let everyone know.
:: Start planning for the time off you’ll need coming up. You may need to work over-time for a few weeks so you can take time off later.
Please pin and share.
Thanks for all these ideas, Tabitha. I did not know you had changed domain names. I visited your old blog last night and found that you are inactive there. So happy to find you again. Go gently now, Amy
