Years ago, I encountered a dilemma. My big life was costing me relationships and my health. But when I cut back, I found that my influence dwindled, and my happiness waned. How do you live your dreams without being too stressed out to enjoy the fruits of your labor? My heart’s desire (perhaps similar to yours) is to help people, cultivate relationships, volunteer within my community, teach, and empower women to “put themselves out there”…in a way that honors my values, personality and season of life. Over the years since then, I have learned to live BIG…and simple.
Living a big simple life
I’ve written about this concept a hundred times from various angles and it comes down to living a life of influence without sacrificing your sanity. It also has to do with self-promotion and visibility that is energizing and authentic, with a focus on using your best gifts to serve others. From direct sales reps to ministry leaders to non-profit volunteers, I work with women who have something they want to contribute to the world but they also refuse to let it cost them what matters most.
It’s not about “balance,” it’s about rejecting busyness and focusing on the steps that will help you be who God created you to be. I call it alignment.
It’s…
- knowing who you are and surrounding yourself with like-minded people
- being honest about your strengths and shortcomings (and embracing your label)
- coming out of hiding
- creating a home that is your sanctuary and your launching pad
- connecting with the right people
- serving and giving whole-heartedly
- making mistakes
- getting dressed with intention and purpose.
- consistently tending to the areas that matter.
It’s a lot of work, but the best kind of work…and totally worth it.

A big simple life is something I’ve learned from my mom, aunts, grandmothers, mentors, friends and cohorts. Every woman I’ve ever met has taught me something about it, good or bad! I’ve seen women downplay their strengths and wonder why they’re constantly overlooked. I’ve seen women so full of themselves they lose credibility resulting in people only working with them out of obligation. And I’ve seen women strive so much that they burn out (it happened to me in 2008).
Too many women get in their own way and it breaks my heart. Their mistake? They were too big…or not big enough. Or they’d made things way too complicated.
I want to help women live a big, simple life…it’s that simple!
I’ve worked with and served alongside hundreds of women over the years. If you know me, you know I have a heart to teach and serve.
