I count time spent communing with nature, camera in hand and all the time in the world as one of my favorite ways to nurture my soul. The Butterfly Wonderland in Scottsdale, AZ is one of my favorite places to do that. Enjoy these photos from
when my mom, grandmother and I were there in May, 2017.
At 10,000 sq ft., Butterfly Wonderland is the largest butterfly conservatory in the country!
It’s a truly remarkable experience, with so many species of butterflies and moths and all the vegetation and flowers. Simply incredible! And so many opportunities for photos!
I love this sequence!
Here’s a favorite.
It’s worth taking your time, not only because there’s so much to see… (like the butterflies congregating at the ceiling and the ones feeding on yummy fruit)
…but also because the butterflies will start to swarm and check you out if you stay still. This one landed on my camera and necklace several times and kept swooping between my ankles. It’s such a weird feeling!
They might even land in your hair. It happened a few times to my grandmother!
Or ride around on your shoulder. This was my mom’s hitch hiker.
I really love this place and highly recommend it if you’re in the Phoenix area! It’s wonderful for all ages, too.
